JAX FOREVER KING

My personal favorite independent artist, based here in Atlanta, recently passed away signaling a great loss to the city of Atlanta's hip hop scene. "Jax" of the Atlanta based group "Binkis Recs" suffered a heart attack while performing onstage. After being rushed to the hospital a number of us arrived only to find out that the rumors were true & that our friend was gone. It was definitely a sad day considering our friend had recently married & bought a new home with his beautiful wife Lisa. In addition there were quite a few opportunities in the works that was poised to take his career to even greater levels.

I feel like he didn't get his proper opportunity for the whole world to know his talent as many of us here in Atlanta recognized early on. Fortunately Jax left behind an incredible body of work for an independent artist who had a work ethic as aggressive as the late great Tupac Shakur. He has such a catalog of songs that one of his aliases was "Catalog Jax" because he recorded a wealth of material. While many artists coming up today are granted many opportunities & don't fully take advantage of them, Jax was never the type to stop working & keeping his skills sharp. Jax wasn't the type to wait for a record deal, a hot producer to put something together for him, wait for a paid show, or for someone to present to him opportunities for a label deal as he did for self in everyone one of these areas in terms of producing, writing & signing himself to his own label. This brother created his opportunities & it was only a matter of time before the world would've fully recognized his talents. Respected veterans in the hip hop game were already taking notice.

Jax was not only a talented artist, but he was definitely a great & special friend of mine. I will miss his jokes & his hearty laugh & positive demeanor. The Binkis Recs crew is one of my favorite groups based here in Atlanta. As a fan & a friend to these guys I've tried not to be too biased & overly show too much favoritism as to be fair enough to give other artists around the city a chance to be heard on the radio, but there was something special about "JAX" & his group "Binkis Recs" comprised of "Killa Kalm", "Flux", & "DJ Mafioso". If you may not have been familiar with "JAX" please listen to all 3 parts of our special dedication to one of Atlanta's best as we opened up the studios to many friends & family (some calling in from as far away as China) to talk about this great person & wonderful talent. His music is also available on ITUNES under "JAX" or "BINKIS RECS" please support.

We'll miss you man! Hopefully somewhere & somehow you can comprehend the wonderful impact you had on all of our lives.

Rest In Power, Rest In Rhymes, & Rest In Peace my friend! --- Jayforce
